Zmei Gorynych is a mighty magical creature from Russian folktales in the form of a multi-headed snake. This snake lives in the mountains (russian gory), that’s why it was named Gorynych. He guards Koshchei’s lair and the Faraway Tsardom (literally Thrice-ninth Tsardom). The hero can also meet with the Zmei at the Kalinov Bridge over the Smorodina River. The river is a border that can be crossed only by defeating Zmei Gorynych.
